The Team
Robert Ball (Director) has been fortunate to have established a network of key contacts in the East Midlands in development and construction over many years. This has made building the Excellent Development team relatively straightforward, having established shared passions and values working on previous projects together.
Below are introductions to some of the key team at Excellent Development.
Robert has led teams across the property development industry, working for Borough Councils in London, major private housing development company Berkeley Group, and also Councils more local to the East Midlands in delivering major capital projects, including cinemas, libraries, public realm, housing developments. Robert’s development journey has been formulated over many years of industry experience, working in development management, then being promoted into senior management in development and ultimately into consultancy, he has worked for both commercial developers and local authorities having seen both sides of the development coin. Excellent Development was born out of identifying a need for good quality, sustainable homes in the East Midlands, drawing on years of experience in delivery new build schemes. Robert works with a team of seasoned professionals, each with the specialist knowledge and experience required to exploit the full potential of each development opportunity and maximise profitability for Excellent Development and its investors. Having led on many developments over the years, Excellent Development was a natural progression for Robert.

Josh has a vast wealth of experience acting as a Project Manager, Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyor, whilst also being proficient in producing Viability Assessments and Investment Appraisals. He can provide a project ‘cradle to grave’ service and guide clients of all experience levels through the various stages of the development and construction process. Specialising in leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex developments, in both the public and private sectors, Josh has delivered award winning projects on behalf of his clients. Jim Malkin
Planning Consultant
Jim is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and has worked in planning for over 15 years in both the public sector and in private practice. As part of his JMI Planning practice, Jim leads on many planning applications ranging from large scale residential and commercial developments, to smaller agricultural and householder based schemes. Jim has previously worked with major developers and landowners and has dealt with applications for strategic urban extensions, large scale commercial developments and even a European tour standard golf course. We know that Jim will bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to our team.
At Excellent Development we buy and sell land, with or without planning, we also focus on permitted development opportunities, converting commercial properties into new homes. A no-nonsense honest approach to property development. We will take the time to seriously consider all opportunities and respond accordingly.
